Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, made the difficult decision to cancel classes for Thursday and Friday following the tragic death of one of its professors on campus.

The incident unfolded on Thursday morning around 7:45 a.m. when authorities responded to a report of an injured person in one of the university’s buildings. Capt. David Villanueva stated that officers, along with fire and EMS personnel, quickly arrived at the scene and collaborated with university security to locate the situation. Sadly, the individual was found deceased.

The professor was identified as Dr. Eileen St. John, who served as the head of the teacher education department. Dr. St. John was known for her leadership on campus and her dedication to her students. Her sudden passing has deeply affected the university community, prompting an outpouring of grief and condolences.

In response to this tragedy, Kansas Wesleyan University released a statement expressing sorrow and offering support to those mourning Dr. St. John’s loss. The university emphasized the importance of coming together as a family during this challenging time and provided information on counseling services available for students and staff. Classes were cancelled for Thursday and Friday, and all activities scheduled through Sunday were postponed as a mark of respect for Dr. St. John.
