A man in his 20s has been charged following an early morning road traffic collision in Belfast on Friday.
The incident was reported on the A12 Westlink just before 1am on Friday morning.
It’s understood police attempted to pull over a Mini Cooper car after it was observed driving erratically in the Royal Avenue area of the city centre.
The car failed to stop and continued to drive through the north and west of the city before colliding with a Peugeot 208 aftering entering the Westlink via the Divis Street junction.
Police said a 52-year-old man sustained serious injuries in the collision.
The man is understood to be in a critical, but stable condition in hospital.
The PSNI have now charged a 27-year-old man with numerous driving-related offences, including causing grievous bodily injury by driving; aggravated vehicle taking, in which the vehicle is driven dangerously; failing to remain where accident occurred, causing injury; and driving while disqualified.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
