In his plea, Pradeep Rajesh Kumar Gupta claimed that he and his wife had a love marriage and they are from two different castes. Advocate Mukesh Gupta appearing for Gupta submitted before the court that the woman Pooja Gulab Yadav, now known as Pooja Pradip Gupta after marriage, had suddenly vanished and so the husband had tried to look for his wife and had filed various complaints but when he couldn’t reach his wife, he filed a plea before the High Court.
Mukesh Gupta submitted before the court his client’s wife is from another caste and her family members objected to their marriage because of this issue. Mukesh Gupta further claimed that Yadav had run away from her house and had married Pradeep Rajesh Kumar Gupta.
Mukesh Gupta alleged that on a false pretext, Yadav’s family had called her and had taken her away to Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Public Prosecutor Dr Ashvini Takalkar, appearing for the Sakinaka Police Station officials, submitted before the bench that the “investigating officer has telephonically communicated with the detenu wife of the petitioner. According to the investigating officer, she has stated that she is presently in Uttar Pradesh and has travelled there out of her own wish.”
After hearing this, the bench said, “Be that as it may, state and Sakinaka police are directed to produce the detenu namely Pooja Gulab Yadav alias Pooja Pradip Gupta before this Court on January 6, 2025.”
The bench also directed the investigating officer to serve notice on Yadav’s parents directly and inform them about the listing of the petition before this Court on Monday so that they too can put forward their say.
