Authorities responded to reports of an attempted murder-suicide at the Miami International Mall in Doral on Tuesday.
The incident took place sometime Tuesday at 1455 NW 107th Ave., in the kitchen area of a dining establishment at the food court of the mall that is not accessible to the public.
Authorities said the man, who is the owner of the restaurant, stabbed a woman and subsequently shot himself in what appeared to be a domestic incident, as police said they were formerly a couple.
The subject was found deceased at the scene, according to Doral police.
Investigators said the woman, who is in her 20s, was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital and remains in critical condition as of Wednesday morning.

Doral police also said the situation appeared to be an “isolated incident” and the area has since been cleared by investigators.
Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez said he did not know if the weapon involved was obtained in the kitchen area where the incident occurred.
A mall employee at the scene could not confirm whether the suspect and victim were employees of the mall.
Police have not disclosed any further details about the victim and suspect involved. The investigation is ongoing.
