There was a Metra crash Monday. A pedestrian was hit by a train near the Downers Grove Main Street station; some BNSF trains are stopped in the area.
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) — BNSF Metra trains are moving with delays in the west suburbs after a train hit a man, the commuter rail and police said Monday.
Trains were stopped near the Downers Grove Main Street station due to train No. 1272 hitting a pedestrian, Metra said on X.

A Metra spokesperson said the man was hit near Gilbert Avenue, and did not survive.

Downers Grove police said the man was struck by an eastbound train just after 4:35 p.m.
It is not clear what led up to the man being hit.
Extensive delays are anticipated, Metra said.
At least two trains leaving Chicago Union Station Monday evening were canceled, after the crash.
Outbound trains are moving up to 45 minutes behind schedule, Metra said on X about 5:45 p.m.
Inbound and outbound trains were moving again with delays after 6 p.m.
Chopper 7 was over the scene about 5 p.m., and there was a significant emergency response.
