According to Traffic Wales, certain sections of the motorway around Newport will undergo closures over the course of the next three weeks. The closure will primarily affect Junction 26, with eastbound closures scheduled to begin at 08:00 GMT on Saturday for joint repair work on the Malpas Viaduct.
Both Traffic Wales and the Welsh government have extended their apologies for any inconvenience caused by the closures, emphasizing the critical importance of the repair works for ensuring safety on the motorway.
Subsequent closures are planned for the westbound lanes between junctions 26 and 25A at Grove Park, commencing at 08:00 GMT on 17 February and concluding at 06:00 GMT on 19 February. Additionally, eastbound closures at Junction 26 are scheduled from 08:00 GMT on 24 February to 06:00 GMT on 26 February.
Furthermore, there will be three overnight closures between junctions 25A and 26 over the next two weeks, further adding to the disruption. A spokesperson for the Welsh government expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the essential repair works, reaffirming the necessity of these efforts for maintaining the safety and integrity of the motorway.
