A 25-year-old engineering student allegedly killed his parents in Nagpur after being asked to change his college. The incident took place on December 26 but came to light on January 1 after the bodies of Liladhar Dakhole (55) and his wife, Aruna Dakhole (50) were found inside a house in the city.
The couple’s son, Utkarsh Dakhole, repeatedly failed his engineering exams, and had been under pressure from his parents to transfer to another college, the initial probe revealed.

Angered over it, Utkarsh first strangled his mother and later stabbed his father, police said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam, the control room received a call about foul smell coming out of a house and later recovered the couple’s bodies.
“Utkarsh failed to clear several subjects during his engineering course. His parents, therefore, wanted him to quit engineering and choose something else. However, he was against their suggestion,” the official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
After killing his parents, the accused sent his sister, who was unaware of the crime, to his relatives’ place. He told her that his parents had gone to participate in a meditation programme for a few days, where mobile phones were not allowed.
Utkarsh Dakhole has been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway.
