No Charges Filed Yet in Kansas City Shooting as Police Detain Suspects:
No charges have been filed against the suspect who remains in police custody following Wednesday’s mass shooting in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves gave an update at a press conference Thursday, saying prosecutors were still preparing charges.
“We haven’t charged them yet. This is still under investigation. We have 24 hours until we have to charge them or release them,” Graves said. He added: “Once again, we are working closely with the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office to provide the prosecution with the best possible information that connects their actions to the actual shooting.”

At a press conference Thursday afternoon, doctors at University Health Center shared an update on the victim’s condition. Five of the eight people who died were discharged from the emergency room, while the other three were hospitalized. In the intensive care unit, one patient is in stable condition, while two are in critical condition but showing signs of improvement.
Dr. Chief Medical Officer Mark Steele stressed the importance of prompt treatment, noting that one patient became seriously ill but recovered overnight.
Kansas City police told Fox News that two teenagers are currently in custody and the third was released after it was determined he was not involved in the incident. Investigators are working with a juvenile attorney to review findings and determine charges.
Police said the preliminary investigation showed that the attack resulted from a dispute between people and was not a crime or terrorist act. Authorities say there is no evidence of a connection to the violence, although the relationship between the people involved is still under investigation.
Initial reports also indicated that the shootings occurred in several locations, but investigators now believe the violence occurred mostly west of Union Station.
