MCKINNEY, Texas — A McKinney man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to strangling his wife to death on Christmas Day in 2023, the Collin County District Attorney’s Office says.
The man, 35-year-old Nasib Ahsan, was arrested on the afternoon of Christmas Day that year after his family members called 911, officials say. He had told police over the phone that he had killed his wife, Nawreen Tuli, after the two got into an argument.
“This was a vicious, premeditated act of domestic violence that stole the life of a young woman and her unborn child,” Collin County DA Greg Willis said in a statement. “My team fought to hold him fully accountable and ensure he can never harm another woman. This life sentence reflects our resolve to stand with victims, protect the vulnerable, and — when appropriate — deliver justice in the strongest way without putting families through the agony of trial.”
Officials say Ahsan had been arrested two months earlier for reportedly assaulting Tulli at the same apartment complex. She had reportedly told officers that Ahsan had grown controlling and violent and had tried to force her into the apartment, refusing to let her drive to work. Neighbors reportedly called police after hearing Tulli’s screams.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Dewey Mitchell and Brooke Adams prosecuted the case with help from District Attorney Investigator Stephanie Strickland.
