Days after Arshad was arrested for killing his mother and four sisters at a hotel in Lucknow, the police on Friday said that he was trying to mislead them, calling him a cold-blooded criminal.

Arshad recorded the confession video which was aimed at misleading the investigation, Lucknow police further revealed.

Soon after committing the murders on New Year’s Eve, Arshad shot a video, blaming his neighbours for allegedly planning to sell his sisters in Hyderabad, thus, driving him to kill his family.

In the confession video, Arshad also blamed his neighbours for eyeing their property in Agra. However, the police, on investigating the neighbours in Agra, said that there was no discord, as claimed by Arshad in the video. The police further said that Arshad and Badar did not interact much with their neighbours.

After going through Arshad’s phone, the police have, now, revealed that the video has been pre-recorded. Following this discovery, the police are probing for how long Arshad was actually planning the murders.

The police further confirmed that both Arshad and his father, Badar, were involved in the murders. While Arshad was arrested on the spot on the night of the incident, Badar is still at large.

On Thursday, Arshad told the police of his father’s involvement. Calling him the mastermind, Arshad said that his father had brought intoxicants that were mixed with the food which was later served to his mother and sisters.

After Arshad strangled his family to death, Badar cut their wrists with a surgical blade. Arshad also revealed to the police that Badar was silently sitting and watching the rest of the family suffocating to death.

The police are looking into Arshad’s phone records and trying to find out if anyone else apart from Badar was involved in the murders.
