Protest held outside Gulfstream Park regarding controversial horse racing billon January 26, 2025 at 3:31 pm

Protestors gathered at one of Gulfstream Park’s biggest horse-racing events in Hallandale Beach Saturday, lining the streets outside the Pegasus World Cup.

Some protestors told Local 10 News they were there to bring awareness to a bill that would eliminate the requirement that track owners must conduct live thoroughbred racing to have a gaming license.

Horse racing has always been an issue among animal rights activists because of alleged mistreatment of the animals.

There are only two thoroughbred race tracks in Florida, Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs.

Gulfstream is the only one with a casino, though, so the new bill would only affect that location.
