As if celebrating their 100th season with one of the worst years in franchise history was not enough for fans of the New York Giants to endure, they also had to watch former running back Saquon Barkley lead the division rival Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl.
Barkley, of course, had one of the best seasons for a running back in NFL history and will now get set to play in his first Super Bowl.
During media day on Monday, Barkley had a viral exchange with impending free agent quarterback Jameis Winston that many viewed as the ex-Giant throwing shade.
After Barkley caught wind of the latest criticism, he shot back on X.
“I literally said dabs (head coach Brian Daboll) gonna get you right… This thing with me and giants is so played out,” Barkley wrote in the since-deleted post.
Barkley has clearly had enough of the questions regarding his former team, but this time around, it was facilitated by his own comment — whether it was intended as shade or not.
Following his departure, Barkley quickly had some regrets about how he handled his exit from Big Blue.
However, Barkley’s decision to go to the Eagles and their high-powered offense helped him put together his best season as a pro and landed him his first Super Bowl appearance.
Plenty of former Giants have come out in support of Barkley ahead of the big game on Sunday and although most fans will be rooting against the Eagles, there are certainly plenty rooting for Barkley’s success.
