Police are investigating the large strip mall fire that destroyed businesses and caused several million dollars in damage in southeast Edmonton early Tuesday morning as arson.
Just before 1 a.m., police were called to 92 Street and 34 Avenue for a large commercial fire, police said in a Thursday news release.
When officers arrived, several businesses in the strip mall were “engulfed in flames,” and investigators believe 25 units were destroyed, police said.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to the fire and deemed it suspicious, and police have taken over the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with dash cam or security camera footage from the area between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Tuesday to contact them at 780-423-4567. Police are also asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
