The series was hit hard by two Hollywood protests, but production is finally scheduled to begin in January 2024. Since its release in July 2016, Stranger Things has been and continues to be one of Netflix’s best series. It continues to grow with each season and its popularity increases with each new show.
For many records, including Nielsen streaming data showing 7.2 billion minutes played per week, the fourth season of the show’s second Netflix series – on the heels of the season’s 1st viewing on Wednesday. Following the release of Volume 2, demand for the series was so high that some Netflix users experienced a brief slump as users flocked to watch the epic finale of Season 4.
Strange things will continue in its upcoming final season. We are currently working on an animated spin-off, a stage play performed in London, and may plan to roll out more content internationally in the future.

Official Netflix Renewal Status: Renewed February 17, 2022
Netflix announced Season 5, with plans for the biggest Stranger Things Season 4 to premiere in summer 2022.
Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer released a statement explaining that the fifth season will be the series finale and will conclude the story arcs they had planned for the series.

In Episode Before the release of the fourth season and 5 When Season 1 was announced, the Duffer Brothers were unsure how many seasons would be needed to tell the full story of Stranger Things. Speaking previously about the series’ runtime, Ross Duffer said:
“We don’t really know. I think we’ll finish with four or five seasons, but who knows? I mean no one knows a politician, we know where we want to go, we just know how long it’ll take to get there.” We’re trying to calculate it, so we’ll see.”
Matt seems to know early on in the series that he’s going to do this. End with season five:
