The family of a missing Queensland mother have issued an emotional plea to help find the 29-year-old, as police try to narrow down her location in a 9000-square-kilometre area.

Tayla Spies, 29, went missing almost three weeks ago from the Dalby and Roma areas, west of Brisbane.

“Sissy, if you’re watching this, I want you to know you are so loved and cherished by so many people,” her sister, Rebecca Spies said in video.

“I want you to know that I miss my big sister and I love you. You’re my protector and the one that keeps me young at heart.

“Mum wants you to know if you need a break, and you’re not ready to come home yet, that’s OK, but please just let her know that you are OK.

“Nanna wants you to know that she loves you and your babies love you and if you need a break, that’s OK.”

Police received information that Spies left a hotel in Dalby about 8am on February 2 and travelled towards Surat. Footage of Spies shows her walking, dressed in a pink shirt with light coloured shorts, carrying a large red bag to her white 2017 Toyota Hilux.

Police say her vehicle was last seen at the intersection of Burrowes Street and Cordelia Street in Surat about 11.10am on February 2.

“We have no knowledge if anybody has spoken to her since then, has seen her, and we have no knowledge if she is OK,” her sister said.

“The pain and enormity of her absence increases with each day that passes and the worry is consuming us all.”

The family described Spies as brave, thoughtful and funny, and always there for people.

“She loves her family wholeheartedly and never lets us forget it,” her sister said.

Detective Chief Inspector Garry Watts said police held grave concerns for Spies’ health and safety, and were frustrated they had been unable to find her.

“We’ve had police, we’ve had police aerial assets, we’ve had police trail bike riders, we’ve had investigators and intel officers all working together in an attempt to track down where Tayla may be,” Watts said.

“But unfortunately, at this point, we’re no further in establishing where she is.”

Watts said unfortunately with the nature of the investigation, police had no starting point, other than the fact Spies had been seen in Surat, a town south of Roma, and about five hours’ drive west of Brisbane.

“With an area of so vast of 9000 square kilometres, we’re unable to put feet on the ground to commence a proper search area,” he said.

He would not comment on details of Spies’ activity on her phone, other than to say police were confident that it was in the 9000 square kilometre area.

“I’m asking any farm holders out there to have a look at their holdings, to see if anyone has traversed their property, have a look for the white utility.

“It’s been several weeks now, and we are frustrated that we have been unable to locate the vehicle and Tayla.”

Watts said police were receiving information from the public and her family, and were acting on it.

Police urged anyone with information of the disappearance or who may have spotted Spies to come forward.

She could be driving a 2017 dual cab Toyota Hilux with a black bumper bar and blacked out wheels, with Queensland registration 559 GJ7.
