Unfortunately, Marco Troper, the 19-year-old son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, has passed away. Troper, a freshman at UC Berkeley, was found unresponsive in her dorm room on the Clark Kerr campus Tuesday afternoon, according to a university spokesperson.
Emergency services were immediately notified, and despite efforts to resuscitate her, Troper was pronounced dead shortly after being found. Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, school officials ruled it a homicide.
Tropper’s grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, told SFGATE that she believes her grandson died of a drug overdose. She described the troper as a “caring” and “mathematical” young man who came to change the world. Esther expresses deep sorrow for this loss, saying that the Troper’s life was cut short and that he left his next life behind.
Esther and Troper’s family expressed their incomprehensible pain in a heartfelt Facebook post, praising her kindness, wisdom, and passion for the UC Berkeley Passion for Learning. They talked about his positive attitude and the love he shared with his friends and family.
Esther Wojcicki also spoke about the family’s desire to prevent similar incidents and emphasized the need for more awareness and support to prevent others from suffering from static electricity loss. Despite her sadness, she emphasized the importance of supporting the well-being of others and honoring the Troper’s memory.
