Two-alarm fire severely damages home in Bay ward

A duplex was heavily damaged by a fire in the 900 block of Pinecrest Avenue Saturday night.

Firefighters were called at about 8:30 p.m. following several reports of heavy smoke and flame at the residence.

Crews confirmed a working fire on arrivals and issued a second alarm at 8:36 p.m. to dispatch additional resources to the scene.

Firefighters protected nearby structures that were at risk of catching fire.

Occupants had managed to leave the building safely.

The fire was under control at 9:02 p.m.

An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
