Tyla’s “Water” Tops Adult R&B Airplay Chart, Continues Radio Dominance:
Tyla’s chart-topping hit “Water” continues its impressive streak by reaching the pinnacle of Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay list, marking the artist’s first No. 1 on this chart. Released on FAX Records/Epic Records, the track surged from 4th to 1st place following a remarkable 25% increase in plays, making it the most played song on U.S. monitored adult R&B radio stations during the tracking week of February 9-15, as reported by Luminate.
This achievement also earns “Water” the coveted Greatest Gainer award, recognizing the song with the largest increase in plays for the week. The success of “Water” further solidifies Tyla’s place in the music industry, following her groundbreaking win at the Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance earlier this month.
Notably, “Water” has already enjoyed a successful run on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, reigning at No. 1 for eight non-consecutive weeks since December. Additionally, the track claimed the top spot on the Rhythmic Airplay chart for one week the same month.
Despite its stellar performance on various charts, “Water” remains in the shadow of SZA’s “Snooze” on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, holding the No. 2 position for the sixth, non-consecutive week. SZA’s “Snooze” continues its historic run, securing its 31st week at the top spot, making it the longest reigning song in the chart’s 31-year history.
Demonstrating its crossover appeal, “Water” also leads the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart for a third consecutive week and maintains its position at No. 8 on the Pop Airplay chart for a third straight frame, with a 3% increase in plays in the latest tracking period.
The success of “Water” has opened doors for Tyla’s second single, “Truth or Dare,” which has made impressive debuts on radio rankings. “Truth or Dare” enters the Rhythmic Airplay chart at No. 40 and the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart at No. 44, reflecting substantial gains in plays and audience engagement.
Both “Water” and “Truth or Dare” are set to feature on Tyla’s highly anticipated self-titled debut album, scheduled for release on March 22, promising further milestones in the artist’s burgeoning career.
