Volvo Car India has reached a significant milestone in its journey, as it proudly announces the production of its 10,000th Made-in-India car at its Bengaluru facility. Since initiating assembly operations in 2017, Volvo’s Bengaluru plant has been a hub of innovation and production excellence, contributing to the growth of the Indian luxury mobility segment.
The journey to this remarkable achievement has been marked by resilience and commitment, overcoming challenges including pandemic-related disruptions over the past three years. Despite these obstacles, Volvo Car India has maintained its focus on delivering top-quality vehicles to its discerning customers.
Leading the production charge at the Bengaluru facility is the popular XC60, which has surpassed the 4,000-unit mark, solidifying its position as a flagship model for Volvo in India. However, the spotlight of this milestone shines on the XC40 Recharge, Volvo’s first pure electric offering, which holds the distinction of being the 10,000th car manufactured in India. This marks a significant moment in Volvo’s journey into electric mobility, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, expressed pride in achieving this milestone, highlighting Volvo’s dedication to India’s luxury mobility segment. The XC40 Recharge’s role as the 10,000th car underscores Volvo’s vision for the future of electric mobility in India.
Gao Feng, Production Head at Volvo Car India, emphasized the continuous enhancement of the plant’s capabilities and skill upgrading initiatives. Since its inception, the plant has focused on adapting to new technologies and processes, culminating in the successful assembly of electric vehicles like the XC40 Recharge, India’s first domestically assembled EV.
Situated in Hoskote near Bengaluru, Volvo Car India’s production facility has played a pivotal role in the company’s local assembly strategy. Today, the facility assembles the entire Volvo lineup in India, including models like the XC90, XC60, S90, XC40 Recharge, and the recently launched C40 Recharge. This diverse local assembly portfolio underscores Volvo’s commitment to the Indian market and its evolving automotive landscape.
With a network of 25 dealerships across the country, Volvo has established a strong presence in India since its entry in 2007. The achievement of the 10,000-car production milestone is a testament to Volvo’s growth trajectory in India and its unwavering commitment to delivering luxury vehicles of the highest standards to Indian consumers.
