The collision happened around 7:08 p.m. as the woman crossed Hewes Way westbound in a marked crosswalk. As she crossed, a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 making a left turn from 23 Avenue southbound ran into her.
Ambulance crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The eastbound and westbound lights were green when the woman was crossing and she was not jaywalking, police said.
The woman’s death remains under investigation by the EPS major collision investigations section. There was no immediate word whether the 48-year-old man driving the truck would face charges.
This is the third fatal pedestrian collision in Edmonton this year, according to police.
