Wrong-way crash on I-290 near Hillside leaves at least one dead, police say​on March 23, 2025 at 3:09 pm

Eastbound lanes on Interstate 290 near Wolf Road in Hillside are currently shut down after a wrong-way crash involving multiple vehicles Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

Everyone involved in the wrong-way crash that occurred at 4:17 a.m. was sent to the hospital, which has left at least one person dead, police said. ISP did not provide further information on what caused the collision.

Lanes are expected to reopen within the next one to two hours.
