I applaud Premier Doug Ford’s decision to get rid of speed cameras in Ontario. It is a cash grab, plain and simple.

If it isn’t about the money, then put up something similar to a flashing amber light warning of a speed camera ahead. Yes, there are posted signs, but there are so many signs that it is certainly easy to miss.
If it isn’t a money grab, then play fair and install flashing lights.
Glad to see them go.

CAUSE OF TRIBALISM IN CANADA
Re: The need for debating minus all the hating, Jerry Agar column, Sept. 23
While I agree with everything Jerry Agar said about tribalism in dealing with the left or right in politics, he failed to mention the cause, at least in this country.
For over a decade the left, with all their grandiose ideas to save the planet and have every Canadian pulled out of poverty, have been forcibly pushing their plans down the throats of those on the right.

There has been no allowance for any kind of alternate way of thinking, and if you dare do so, it will be met with firm opposition and you will be called racist, homophobic or a climate-change denier, among other things.
What do you expect when you tie someone’s hands behind their back and stick a sock in their mouth while telling them they are the problem!

EYES FORWARD
Re: Ford announces plans to ban speed cameras in Ontario: ‘Enough is enough’, online, Sept. 25
Personally, I don’t like to take my eyes off the road, especially in school zones. I usually slow down to the required speed limit. However, I don’t like to have to take my eyes off the road, even for a second or two, to look down at my speedometer, concerned that I’ll get a fine in the mail for going one, two or even five kilometres over the speed limit, and going forward I will not be forced to take my eyes off the road because of a speed camera.
