MONEY NOT WELL SPENT
Is there a property taxpayer within the City of Ottawa who is happy with the way their tax dollars are being spent? Anybody? Speak up! Are those crickets I hear? I thought so.

In my opinion, you have to go way back to Charlotte Whitton to find a mayor who had the taxpayers’ best interests in mind. Simply put, if we couldn’t afford it, we didn’t get it. Today, they say, “If we can’t afford it, someone else will pay for it!”
The city’s debt will sooner than later have to be paid. I can just imagine what those geniuses down at city hall will come up with to pay the bill. Scary, to say the least.

U.K. SHOULDN’T DO IT
Re: A recent headline that stated Keir Starmer said the U.K. would recognize a Palestinian state unless Israel agrees to ceasefire
It would be ridiculous for the U.K. to recognize Palestinian statehood before Hamas releases all the hostages. If the U.K. wishes to put pressure on Israel, it should put restrictions on trade rather than recognize Palestinian statehood. Canada and the U.K. should also put pressure on Israel to rein in settler violence in the West Bank.

TOO SLOW ON 174
The eastbound 174 continues to frustrate commuters with an unnecessary 80 km/h limit, despite no active construction between Montreal and Trim roads. Rockland residents can drive 90 km/h on a one-lane highway, only to be slowed by heavy traffic once they reach the 174. Backups are common, even during the summer months when traffic should ease.
With no safety or infrastructure reason for the reduced speed, it’s time to restore the 100 km/h limit and relieve the pressure on east-end commuters before everyone returns from summer holidays.

DESPERATE FOR VOTES
Isn’t it astounding that if anyone under 18 years old commits a crime they are deemed not old enough to know right from wrong and will never be charged as an adult for serious crimes, but now we have people in the government who think that, at 16, you’re old enough to vote?

What a crock. This country will be run by politicians who will find every way to make children vote for them and Canada will go further down the toilet. Unbelievable how desperate politicians are to get elected, and now by children.
