Well, in team sports the best team wins and in individual sports the best player wins at the end of the day. That said, Canadian handprints are there on the Stanley Cup since there are many, many Canadian hockey players on the Florida Panthers team. I guess it works out as consolation win for Canada.
Oh well, Stanley, you like Trump country; take your time, but remember the door is always open for you to come home when you are ready. Adios for 2025, stay well.

CHANGING TRUMP’S TUNE
Canadians not vacationing and travelling to the United States is really having a negative impact on U.S. towns and cities nearest to the Canadian border. Super! All kinds of U.S. governors, mayors and business people have convened meetings with Canadian mayors and politicians saying that they love Canadians and that, when we do not visit the U.S., we hurt them economically. That’s great because Donald Trump wants to annex Canada to become the 51st state.

Hopefully these hurting U.S. border towns and communities and their political representatives will pressure their citizens to vote more for Democrats instead of Republicans next year in the U.S. mid-term elections, which would greatly limit Trump’s autocratic tendencies and help change his tune about us becoming the 51st state.
Until this becomes a reality, we should keep this pressure on the U.S. by spending our powerful Canadian dollars in our own great country.

TOPIC WAS ALCOHOL, NOT DRUGS
Re: Nothing wrong with pint in a park, letter to the editor, online, June 17 (Editor’s note: This letter is in response to another letter saying alcohol should not be allowed in parks. It wondered why the first letter-writer hadn’t complained about rampant intravenous drug use in parks.)

For clarity, the issue was about the city allowing alcohol consumption in public parks. It is legal to drink. It was not about drug use. Obviously, drugs are illegal and not what city council was deciding on.
The point I was making was that neither alcohol nor drugs should be allowed in public parks. We need to keep parks safe!
