DENTON COUNTY, Texas — At least one person has died after two vehicles collided with each other Friday afternoon in Denton County, police said.
Just before 3 p.m., the Lake Dallas Police Department responded to an accident in the 600 Block of North Stemmons Freeway Service Road.
The department said a gray Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Service Road and entered the left U-turn lane, intending to travel back underneath Interstate 35E. However, as the driver approached the turn, the vehicle kept driving straight into the raised lane divider separating the eastbound lanes of W. Swisher Road from the U-turn Lane.
According to Lake Dallas police, the Ford pickup barreled through the eastbound lanes of traffic, where it collided with a white Mercedes traveling westbound on W. Swisher Road.
The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Their identity was not immediately released.
Lake Dallas PD said the driver of the Ford pickup was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
