That meeting went Thursday night, with the host Hitmen on the losing end of a 4-0 contest at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The good news for the host squad is it welcomed back veteran goaltender Daniel Hauser to the crease after injury sidelined him for the 4-0 sweep of the Saskatoon Blades in the first round.

The bad news is it was the opposition goaltender, the Hurricanes’ Jackson Unger, shutting down the Hitmen in the game.

Jackson made 33 saves, while counterpart Hauser made just 20 stops and saw Kooper Gizowski, Brayden Edwards, Logan Wormald and Noah Chadwick find the net behind him. Gizowski and Edwards scored in the first period, while Wormald and Chadwick marked power-play goals in the second and third frames, respectively.
