Not even a dose of Covid-19 is going to save Micheál Martin this time. The Taoiseach 2.0 had a bad run of luck on his trips to the White House during his first term. He never actually made it to the Oval Office. In 2020, of course, he was only taoiseach-in-waiting, as Leo Varadkar was still in the role pending the outcome of coalition talks where Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael would realise their real adversary was the Green Party.
