Taken to a Russian camp they are separated, and the children are then groomed to be adopted by Russian families. This intense story brings to light the violence and indecencies of this war and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.

A government-run, clean energy experiment is looking for children between the ages of 11 and 15 to participate and receive a large monetary compensation. The Factory, however, does not appear as it does in the brochure. There is wired fencing, armed guards and extraction chambers. After making friends with other children suffering through this process, they all decide that to survive, they must escape and tell the world what is going on. Middle-grade readers will love this dystopian thriller and will be eager to read the next instalment.
