DALLAS — A 46-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection to the hit-and-run of a child in southern Dallas, according to police.

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) said that just before 9 p.m. on Feb. 23, three juveniles were walking in the center median of westbound 2200 W. Wheatland Road, just east of South Hampton Road. According to DPD, one of them stepped off the median into the far-left lane and was hit by a vehicle.

The driver, later identified as Jerome Walker, 46, was driving a silver, extended-cab pickup and left the scene without stopping to render aid, DPD said.

Walker was arrested on Feb. 26 and charged with collision involving serious bodily injury.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, DPD said. An update on the victim’s condition was not available.
