MARK Allen and Jordan Brown both suffered final-frame defeats at the Weide Cup Snooker World Open in Yushan on Monday.
World number seven Allen was surprisingly beaten by world number 63 David Lilley, who described it as his ‘’best win ever.’’
The Antrim man fired breaks of 142 and 103 to lead 3-2 but Lilley then went 4-3 ahead. He looked like sealing the win in frame eight but a missed green cost him and allowed Allen to force a decider.
However, it was the Englishman who held his nerve to seal victory thanks to a break of 77.
Brown, who has fallen to number 53 in the rankings after a difficult spell, was edged out by another English player in Zak Surety, who produced a 132 total clearance in the decider.
Cork’s Aaron Hill will face Jimmy Robertson on Tuesday for a place in the last 32. The world number 57 beat Sunny Akani 5-3.
