A motorcyclist was airlifted to a South Bend hospital after suffering serious injuries in a wreck with an SUV Thursday afternoon in Pleasant Township, police said.
Deputies with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department were called around 3:29 p.m. to a crash with injuries involving a 2006 Harley-Davidson with a male driver and a 2014 Ford SUV with a male driver, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, the department’s public information officer.
An initial investigation showed the Ford was traveling eastbound on Ind. 8 and in the process of turning northbound on Baums Bridge Road. The motorcycle was traveling westbound on Ind. 8 and was behind an uninvolved vehicle that was turning southbound on Baums Bridge Road.
The motorcycle began to pass the vehicle in front of him on the shoulder and collided with the SUV turning north.
The driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to a South Bend hospital due to his serious injuries.
Porter County Crash Reconstruction is investigating.
