A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday afternoon in a hit-and-run collision on Macleod Trail, say city police.

At about 3 p.m., a motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle at Macleod Trail and 53rd Avenue S.W.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene while the motorcyclist was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition, police said in a statement.

Later, police said they arrested a woman.

“At this time it is believed she was involved in a stolen vehicle incident which resulted in the hit and run of the motorcyclist,” police said in a statement.

Following the collision, northbound Macleod Trail between 53rd Avenue and 57th Avenue was closed to traffic but has since reopened.
