NHL Playoffs 2025: Schedule, bracket, scores, results for all first-round series in pursuit of the Stanley Cup​on April 22, 2025 at 9:01 am

If Monday night is any indication of how the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoffs are going to go we’re in for a real treat. All four games were decided by a single goal, two coming in overtime, with one being delivered by Alex Ovechkin — when he  recorded his first overtime goal in the playoffs — just two weeks after passing Wayne Gretzky as the league’s all-time goals leader. (Wild stuff, right?)

Ovechkin’s goal gave the Capitals a 3-2 victory over the Canadiens in their series opener, and the Stars’ 4-3 overtime win evened their series with the Avalanche at a game a piece. The Kings nearly squandered a four-goal lead when the Oilers scored twice with an extra skater in the closing minutes, only to retake the lead when Phillip Danault was able to dump the puck past a screened Stuart Skinner with 42 second left. Los Angeles became only the fourth playoff team to lose a four-goal lead yet win the game. Finally, the Jets, who won the Presidents’ Trophy this season, beat the Blues again, and now lead that series 2-0.
