The owner of a southeast Calgary massage therapy business has been charged with committing an alleged sex crime against a client.

Last month, police were told on an incident at Zen Massage – Cristiano Potamianos RMT on Midpoark Way S.E. that is said to have taken place during a massage on Dec. 11, 2024.

“It is believed that during the appointment they were sexually assaulted by the massage therapist,” police said in a statement released Tuesday morning.

After an investigation, Calgary resident Cristiano Capriglioni Potamianos, 45, was charged with one count of sexual assault, the Calgary Police Service said.

This latest criminal charge filed against a massage therapist marks at least the fifth such instance in Calgary since September, according to a tally of previous reports published by Postmedia, including one individual facing multiple criminal charges.
