Two men have been arrested after a man sustained serious facial injuries during an assault in west Belfast.
The incident happened after two men reportedly damaged a vehicle upon leaving licenced premises and walking towards the Lenadoon area on Friday afternoon.
A PSNI spokesperson said police received a report shortly before 5pm that two males had refused to pay for ordered food in the premises and had become disorderly before setting off a fire alarm, causing damage and attempting to steal an item of clothing.
”The owner of the damaged vehicle followed the two men to the Lenadoon area, where an altercation occurred,” the spokesperson said.
“The vehicle owner sustained serious facial injuries and further cuts and abrasions to his body during an ensuing assault.
”Two men matching the description provided by the vehicle owner were located nearby by officers.”
The men, aged 25 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, disorderly behaviour in licensed premises, attempted theft and possession of Class C controlled drugs.
They remained in custody on Saturday.
The PSNI spokesperson added: “Our investigation is continuing and I would encourage anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1211 of 14/03/25.”
