Shedd Aquarium’s baby beluga now has a name: Opus. It’s a musical term — meaning a set of compositions — that honors his father Beethoven and nods to the high-pitched songs that have led to these whales being dubbed the “canaries of the sea.” After more than 1,000 votes were cast by aquarium members, the beluga calf was named Opus.
