Scottie Scheffler Holds Commanding Lead as RBC Heritage Final Round Resumes Monday

The conclusion of the RBC Heritage’s final round will resume tomorrow at 8 a.m. ET, with Scottie Scheffler holding a commanding lead through 15 holes at the Harbour Town Golf Links. For Scheffler, the final three holes may just be a formality at this point.

In a dramatic moment during the dwindling twilight on Sunday, Scheffler showcased his resilience by recovering from a hooked 4-iron second shot on the par-4 15th with a remarkable wedge shot to 11 feet. He then calmly converted the putt for an unlikely par, maintaining a five-stroke lead over his closest competitors, including Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, J.T. Poston, and Sahith Theegala.

Scheffler, who is on the hunt for his fourth PGA TOUR victory in just five starts, currently sits at an impressive 20 under par for the tournament. The final round was halted due to darkness at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, with nine players still needing to complete their rounds on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

This marks the second unscheduled Monday finish on the PGA TOUR this season, the last being the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, which was won by Austin Eckroat. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, won by Wyndham Clark, was shortened to 54 holes due to the inability to complete play on Sunday and Monday.

Sunday’s play at Harbour Town was initially interrupted at 4:28 p.m. due to lightning in the vicinity. At the time of suspension, the final pairing of Scheffler and Sepp Straka had completed 11 holes. Players were temporarily removed from the course, with the delay lasting 2 hours and 32 minutes before play resumed at 7 p.m.
