DALLAS — Storms with heavy rain and lightning are moving through North Texas on Friday, leaving thousands without power.
Friday is a WFAA Weather Alert Day with the potential for severe storms with hail and 60+ mph wind gusts in the forecast for North Texas.
As the storms began to move through North Texas Friday afternoon, Oncor reported more than 1,500 without power. By shortly before 3:30 p.m., the number of outages jumped to nearly 21,000,
“Oncor is monitoring and responding to outages caused by severe thunderstorms in parts of our service area,” a weather Alert on Oncor’s website reads. “Resources are available and working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.”
Here’s a breakdown of power outages Friday afternoon by county:
- Dallas County: 796
- Tarrant County: 388
- Kaufman 221
- Hill: 1,364
- Parker: 42
- Rockwall: 77
- Ellis: 44
- McLennan: 2,703
