A Hurricanes counter-ruck kills the Waratahs on this instance. The home side manage to rip the ball away from Teddy Wilson and shift the ball left as hooker Asafo Aumua gets the Hurricanes’ third try with four minutes remaining in the half.
Now Waratahs winger Darby Lancaster is coming off for a potential HIA. All three of the Waratahs’ reserve backs are on the park. Far from ideal. Luck not going their way.
BOOM. Canes No.9 Cam Roigard also finds his way to the tryline after a cracking offload from Isaia Walker-Leawere on the ground. Sharp work and another killer blow before half-time.
A poor few minutes from the Waratahs, which might cost them the game. To be a fly on the wall in the sheds…
Hurricanes lead 24-7
Waratahs five-eighth Lawson Creighton won’t be taking further part in tonight’s match. Deemed to have picked up a concussion.
NSW are hanging in the contest but there have been moments of frustration. Ben Grant can’t get his knees to the ground as a maul is called and the Waratahs turn over possession. Meanwhile, a cracking tackle from Suaalii to deny the Hurricanes a try on the right edge.

The Hurricanes have dominated possession in the past 10 minutes and the Waratahs need to hang on.
Oh dear. Waratahs debutant Archie Saunders drops a high ball. Knock-on. Dan McKellar will be pulling his hair out.

Kini Naholo has managed to cross for another five-pointer down the left. The Hurricanes had a penalty advantage as they camped themselves on the Tahs’ line. Too easy. Teddy Wilson can’t stop Naholo.
NSW need to improve their discipline early on.
Dan McKellar will want to hope Jorgensen’s injury doesn’t rattle his men.

Look away Waratahs fans.
Max Jorgensen gets caught up in a tackle and immediately clutches at his ankle. Hard to know yet how serious it is but about a minute has passed and Jorgensen hasn’t got to his feet.
We’ll keep an eye on it. Update: he’s just been helped off the field. That doesn’t look good at all.
Suaalii will shift to fullback and reserve Lalakai Foketi will slot into outside-centre. Not ideal for the visitors.
