Emergency services are under the pump this weekend with a number of fatal crashes and incidents on WA’s roads.
Police say in the early hours of this morning, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle northbound on Mitchell Freeway, near the Cedric Street overpass.
Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating and part of the Mitchell Freeway has been closed.
The closure extended throughout Sunday and forced motorists to use the Cedric Street off-ramp northbound, despite it previously being closed for construction.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane and cars were banked up as far back as Leederville.
It took cars 40 minutes to move between just after Glendalough Station and Cedric Street.
St John’s Ambulance, police and Main Roads WA are all on site, and have closed off the freeway directly adjacent to the Stirling train station.
Traffic has been forced down side roads into Innaloo, with police managing the flow of cars towards the coast.
Main Roads has urged motorists to take the Powis Street exit.
Police were also called to another fatal crash that killed two men this weekend.
Officers said they were called to Miling in the Shire of Moora in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It’s understood a white Kenworth truck towing two trailers collided with a white Toyota Landcruiser tray top on the Great Northern Highway about 3.25am.
The male driver of the Toyota and his passenger both died from their injuries.
The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.
Anyone with information on the crash has been urged to contact police.
