DANCING With The Stars pro Laura Nolan has said the jury is still out over whether herself and fiancé Matthew MacNabb will have a first dance at their wedding.
The couple met when they performed together through a whole season of the RTE show in 2022, making it to the semi-finals.

Matthew’s proposal to Laura on a beach in California last November caused a stir on social media.
So the first dance of the influencer couple at their nuptials next year in Kilkea Castle is also eagerly anticipated.
But the couple themselves still don’t know if they will go all out.
Laura told The Irish Sun: “I teach a lot of first wedding dances for a lot of different couples. I’m very much part of their journey, so it’s actually a difficult one.
“We were talking about it and we are still undecided as to what to do.”
“Whether it’s a full production or just do a side by side (dance) with a little lift here and there.
“We are still undecided. We have the song chosen but we haven’t got a clue whether we are going to dance or not.”
But stunning Laura has an even more important dance to focus on this weekend as she and Rhys McClenaghan are trying to win the glitterball.
The couple are currently at the top of the leaderboard but face a stiff challenge from Olympian taekwondo athlete Jack Woolley and dancer Alex Vladimirov, Kayleigh Trappe and pro Ervinas Merfeldas, and Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua.
Laura said: “As a professional dancer, going through five seasons of Dancing With The Stars, it would be incredible to win it. But there is a lot more to the process, than just winning.
“There are so many things you can take away from it, every single year.
“For me it’s all about creating really amazing routines every single week and being able to be proud of the dances you create and the way you dance.
“And getting your partner to be as good as they possibly can. So that for me, if I can do that, I am already winning.”
The stunning blonde played down any talk of rivalry between the pro dancers backstage ahead of this weekend’s final.
FAMILY GRATITUDE
She said: “The pros are very much a team. It’s going be a fun celebration for all of us to celebrate that we have made the final. I’m really excited to go out and hopefully give our best performances.”
Laura and partner Rhys, who won Ireland’s first Olympic medal in gymnastics last year, are overjoyed that friends and family can play such a big part on Dancing With The Stars each week.
Rhys said: “Normally as a gymnast in competition, you wouldn’t be looking at the crowd.
“But every week I can go out and wave at my parents, my girlfriend, my brother.
“It’s great that both the younger and older generations can share this with you and we can all be together.”
FUTURE PLANS
While Laura’s post DWTS plans including tracking down a wedding dress and a florist, champion gymnast Rhys and girlfriend Emilee Corr plan on moving into their new house right after the show.
He said: “We plan on spending as much time as possible together. Emilee is a gymnastic coach and I’m a gymnast.
“So we have a strange schedule where she works in the evenings. The only time we see each other is just before bed so it will be nice to come home to each other”.
GLITTERBALL STARS – ALL THE DWTS WINNERS
SERIES ONE – 2017: Former Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony beat the odds to be crowned Ireland’s first-ever Dancing With The Stars champion alongside pro partner Valeria Milova, beating out former Fair City star Aoibhin Garrihy and Red Rock actress Denise McCormack.
SERIES TWO – 2018: Singer Jake Carter – the younger brother of country crooner Nathan – was just 19 when he nabbed the Glitterball in 2018 with pro dancer Karen Byrne. And the dance partnership later blossomed into love for the popular pair, who confirmed they were dating months after their big win.
SERIES THREE – 2019: Popular presenter Mairead Ronan became the first female winner, landing the Glitterball with Kilkenny dancer John Nolan in 2019. The mum-of-three said her victory was proof “you can do anything you put your mind to”.
SERIES FOUR – 2020: The 2020 series finale was brought forward due to the outbreak of Covid-19, with 2FM star Lottie Ryan left in tears at clinching the trophy with pro partner Pasquale La Rocca.
SERIES FIVE – 2022: Returning to screens in 2022 after a year off in 2021 due to the continuing coronavirus crisis, ex-jockey Nina Carberry became the third woman on the trot to win the Glitterball, marking a second title for pro Pasquale.
SERIES SIX – 2023: RTE 2FM star Carl Mullan was left stunned back in 2023 when he lifted the Glitterball with pro Emily Barker. The underdog came out on top against fellow finalists Brooke Scullion, Suzanne Jackson and Damien McGinty.
SERIES SEVEN – 2024: Paralympian Jason Smyth came out on top as the 2024 series winner, with pro Karen Byrne becoming the second dancer to win the DWTS title twice. The legally blind athlete moved viewers to tears with an emotional showdance to secure the title.
Dancing With The Stars revealed the song and styles for the four finalists two dances this weekend.
Olympian Jack Woolley and his pro-partner Alex Vladimirov will perform an American Smooth to Grace by The Wolfe Tones.
Olympic gymnast Rhys will don the spandex once again to reprise his role as Spider-Man, as he and Laura dance Charleston to the iconic theme tune.
Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll and his partner Salome Chachua will dance the Charleston to Don’t Blame it On Me by Michael Bublé.
Social media personality Kayleigh Trappe and her partner Ervinas Merfeldas will dance their routine from Love Week back in week seven.
REUNION DANCE
Each couple’s second routine will be a showdance – a freestyle performance that allows them to combine different dance styles in
order to showcase the creativity, skills and storytelling abilities they developed throughout the show.
Rhys and Laura will dance to Beautiful Things by Benson Boone, while Jack and Alex will dance to Years & Years’ version of Lady Gaga’s anthem The Edge of Glory.
And Danny and Salome will dance to Rock This Party by Bob Sinclair, while Kayleigh and Ervinas will dance to the R3hab remix
of Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams.
Sunday’s finale will also see all seven eliminated celebrities and their pro partners return to the dancefloor with a special performance to Kylie Minogue’s Wow.
- The finals of Dancing With The Stars airs on RTE One this Sunday at 6:30pm.
