I am no fan of Coun. Stéphanie Plante, but that is largely because she openly and clearly states her views on city issues. And I don’t agree with her on most issues.
Yes, she can be over the top at times, but, if you are offended, don’t read her posts or follow media reports on her views.
One complaint leads to a reprimand! A democratically elected council should not be stifling “free speech.”

COPS NEED TO ACT NOW
Re: Cottage country under fire; Wild shooters spray Muskoka woods with bullets, Aug. 30
All police agencies involved should be ashamed of themselves. They tell the public to report “unsafe behaviour,” yet for two years they have ignored those reports. I don’t give a damn where these men come from or whether they’re Canadian or visitors. They are breaking the law and our law enforcement had better get off their duffs and do something before someone gets hurt or dies.

The attitude of these men leads me to believe they know they can get away with their crimes because we simply don’t have any law enforcement — unless you’re a law-abiding citizen, and then all hell breaks loose.
This can be stopped; it’s just a matter of whether there’s the will by the police to do it.

CHANGE YOUR WAYS, PIERRE
A couple of days ago, I turned on the news and witnessed Pierre Poilievre giving a speech in an outdoor setting. I don’t know where he was, but I was impressed by his attitude when he said that now that he was back in Parliament it was time to forget partisanship and instead trade ideas to show that Canada is a proud, independent country.
He finished his speech and asked for questions. From that moment on, every answer reverted back to his pre-election banter, blaming the previous government and adding that Mark Carney hasn’t done enough. He completely shattered his earlier Canada togetherness talk.

If Pierre wants to be respected, he should try to look at what is best for this country instead of trying to blame everything on previous leadership. He needs to sit down with fellow MPs and do what we elected them to do: bring Canada back to where it belongs as one of the finest countries in the world.
