Oh, how Canadians love to eat their own.

I am referring to the nonsense that Wayne Gretzky is somehow un-Canadian because of a perceived closeness to Donald Trump, while nothing could be further from the truth.

Gretzky, with the possible exception of Don Cherry, has been one of the greatest ambassadors of the game of hockey as a Canadian staple, and anyone thinking otherwise is delusional.

Yes, Gretzky resides in the United States, but he has always championed Canada, so please move on and tear down something else Canadian, like Sir John A. or Terry Fox, or maybe Banting and Best, who tested their experimental drug on animals. Heck, the list is endless.

Kudos to United States Vice-President J.D. Vance for laying the blame for Canadians’ lower living standard squarely where it rightly belongs, i.e. mass immigration and weak leadership.

During the last election campaign, many quickly forgave the Justin Trudeau decade and were easily conned by the “Mark Carney fear election campaign” that blamed Donald Trump for the dire straits of the Canadian economy.

It was not President Trump who brought in several million immigrants and tens of thousands refugees and asylum seekers. Billions of dollars were then needed to provide these newcomers with housing, health care and other social services.

It appears that Prime Minister Mark Carney is taking a page out of the George Costanza theory of doing the opposite of what he should do to raise Canada’s GDP.

Seriously, though, Carney was purported to be an economic genius, but all he seems to be doing is trying to get re-elected.
